General discomfort is not uncommon, and cold packs or ice are recommended for 72 hours to relieve aching and bring down swelling. Post- rhinoplasty bruising and swelling may not completely disappear for 2-3 weeks. Patients should have an idea of their new look by the first few days after rhinoplasty. Typical procedure is for the doctor to remove the drip bandage after three days and the splint after five days. However, minor swelling could last as long as three months and the healing process leading to up to the final, stabilized result may not be complete until a year or more after the rhinoplasty surgery.
